Thank You

It's moving day tomorrow (Sat) and I am a little sad. We'll be moving out of my grandparent's and into our newly renovated home. Wyatt won't even know what hit him. He'll ask , "Granny and Gramps? Where'd they go?"
Thank you Granny and Gramps for letting us live with you, play with your toys, eat your food, drink your coffee, watch your cable, run and play ball in your yard, and soak up all the attention and love you gave. My son will never be the same for it. We love you both and can't wait to have you come stay at *our* house and eat our food, drink our coffee, not watch cable (b/c we probably won't have it) and sit in our yard devoid of grass.......Wyatt said you could come visit everyday if you want to. :o) This mama is going to need lots of help once baby #2 arrives on the scene!

Our Home

Here's the bare bones of our house via my husband. I actually haven't seen the wood floors in person so he made this video for me. It'll be interesting to contrast this with what it looks like after we move in.

Kitchen curtains

My grandma has been helping me sew my kitchen curtains and I am finally done! A seamstress I am not! It took me forever, but I love how cottagey they look. I can't wait to move in and hang them next to my white cabinets, new black faucet and white ceramic sink. Nobody else in the world may like them, but I do. I really am not into "country" decor. I realize they may read that way onscreen. Think more airstream, vintage cottage......They remind me a of a cozy little home with a fireplace, good book and a cup of tea......children running around, gardens full of vegetables and flowers, and Christmas cookies.

PS Thanks for liking my new banner. It was all my husband's skills. Thanks super hubby! Anyone want to come over and paint? Anyone want to go to Europe and paint......maybe after I pop out baby #2, and then weaning him......just dreaming. :o)

Renovation Realities

Newly sanded floors in lvg rm look great! New opening to kitchen is so much better than the small pocket door. We drywalled up the arched doorway and turned the formal dining room into a 3rd bedroom (minus mirrored wall over window)

Like my $25 dollar chandelier? I found it on the front porch of Betty's Antiques and think it will look PERFECT in the pink bathroom!!! I looked it over and I *think* it has been newly rewired.....we shall see.

Don't get confused. This is the pink bathroom but somehow the silver kitchen chandelier made it into the picture. Oh, Margaret, I found that one for $8 in a Chicago thrift store. It's brand new, but I guess somebody didn't like the silver paint job they did on it. I like it!!

My husband is working tirelessly to make sure his almost 7 month pregnant wife can take a bath in her soon to be lovely pink bathroom. Jon, I love you.

new kit/dining floor

God is really taking care of us! I just purchased 500 sq ft of flooring for $350! It's exactly what I wanted too! My kitchen/dining is going to be so cute. The brown is a little lighter than this picture, but it gives you the right idea. Let's see....white cabinets, red gingahm curtains, white ceramic sink, granite countertops, silver industrial-like lighting, chalkboard, walls a light grey/green color....... If this sounds like strange combos to you, don't worry, I have a picture in my head. I can see a snapshot-like picture in my mind. My style is a combo of shabbychic, anothropologie, and vintage with a contemporary twist. I have no idea what kind of label you'd put on that??

House News

We worked hard this weekend. In fact, every minute of daylight was spent outside working on the exterior of our house. Those of you who live close know how much it needed help!......especially since the hurricane! I think the coolest most satisfying part was powerwashing the brick. Oh my gosh what a difference!!!! Our house looks brand new! It took a long time. The hose only sprayed about the size of an eraser, but it really worked. It made our brick look shiney and beautiful! It must be a little how a dental hygenist feels when they clean a big mouthful of grimey teeth. Our house is like a big mouth full of green teeth! ooh gross! Anyway, I'm sore and tired and we still have to paint but much was accomplished. I'll have to take pics soon. Oh and we laid a flagstone pathway to the door, planted pansies and fixed a corner of the eaves that was damaged from IKE. Thank you mom and dad for coming out and helping. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for keeping Wyatt and allowing us to concentrate! Thank you Justin and brother for helping us haul off more IKE debris!
