Wyatt is 1

Vagabond's House

When I have a house . . . as I sometimes may . . .
I'll suit my fancy in every way.
I'll fill it with things that have caught my eye
In drifting from Iceland to Molokai.
It won't be correct or in period style,

But . . . oh, I've thought for a long, long while
Of all the corners and all the nooks,
Of all the bookshelves and all the books,
The great big table, the deep soft chairs,
And the Chinese rug at the foot of the stairs
(It's an old, old rug from far Chow Wan
That a Chinese princess once walked on).

My house will stand on the side of a hill
By a slow, broad river, deep and still,

With a tall lone pine on guard nearby
Where the birds can sing and the storm winds cry.
A flagstone walk, with lazy curves,
Will lead to the door where a Pan's head serves
As a knocker there, like a vibrant drum,
To let me know that a friend has come,
And the door will squeak as I swing it wide
To welcome you to the cheer inside.
Don Blanding -

I can't believe my baby's one year old now. Life is so funny. It's not at all what I thought it would be or what I planned. I really like my life, though. I love my husband dearly. I love his funny faces and songs and the way he lets me be creative and make a mess. I love the way he always tries to take care of me and the way he prays with me when I'm sad. I love my baby boy immensely. I love his charm, his chubby arms and the way his eyes light up when he is thrilled by something. I love the way he thumps his feet or his hand in time to music and how he plays peek-a-boo to get my attention. We have so many dreams, my little family and I. We dream of owning a li
ttle land where we can raise a few babies, goats, chickens and maybe a pig. Jon wants to play around with organic farming, build a greenhouse so we can have fresh veggies all year round. I would like to learn to make cheese, have an herb garden, some fruit trees, learn to can and have an art studio with lots of windows and cubbies. This has been such a full and blessed year. I can't believe my little boy is one.

Happy Birthday, Wyatt!

What a beautiful post, Leigh. You totally amaze me with your vibrant love for life and the stunning way you put it into words. You're always so upbeat and ready to see the best side of things and people. I want to be more like you. :)

I hope you and Wyatt fare well while Jon's away. I'm taking the easy out and getting my mind off of it by visiting family. I'll see you when I get home! Love you1
