You're so adventuresome now! You walk and climb. The climbing scares me to death. I have found you in so many precarious places! You play ball too! I throw the ball and you throw it back to me. You can say:
"Mama, Dada, Dat (that)"
You have quite the temper and are very stubborn!
I love nursing you in the morning and kissing your sweet neck. You make mama's heart glad and I will love your strong soul forever.

Wednesday Quotes

Jon did the first diaper change of the morning and I heard,
"Hey Leigh!! Zane's got brown poops! It's really brown!"
Thank you sweet potato for changing our son's poops from bright yellow to brown. :o)

I was putting on Wyatt's shoes to go outside when he said with a grin, "I got cool stacks mama!"
Who taught him that? Jon said he's never referred to shoes as stacks........
Yes, Wyatt, you got cool stacks.

Natural Disasters and kids

Why is it that when I leave the room I always feel like something bad is going to happen? Maybe it's b/c it almost always does..... Why do I have to leave my sons alone at all? Well, I don't take them to the bathroom with me and Wyatt usually does his own thing while I nurse in the bedroom (why I nurse in the bedroom is another long story). Today his "own thing" was salt. Before we even had breakfast, this is what I was faced with! Have you heard of people having an "eagle eye"? Well, I possess an eagle ear. I can usually asses what's going on in the other rooms with my super sensitive hearing. These two situations surpassed even my super human powers .
Note to self: Never let your toddler see you throw away old mascara in the trashcan. He will most assuredly dig it out and wreak havoc. Yes, he wrote on his baby brother's head. He also wrote on the table, which I don't have pictured here.

Zane update

He is better! Thank you God, Thank you God! And a thank you to all you who prayed! I found this concoction called Bubble-b-Gone and it has helped immensely. He has started nursing the right side again (he's been refusing that for a month) and even started to smile at me during! What a change from a stiff body screaming bloody murder to a sweet smiling happy eater. I know this sounds digusting, but I think it's all related to pooping and somehow the Bubble stuff helped. He went on strike 3 nights ago and didn't eat from 4:30pm til almost 10pm. I was frantic. I mean that's 5 1/2 hours and he usually eats every 2!! He just cried and cried. I prayed a lot and massaged his belly and gave him Bubble-B-Gone ....and prayed some more. Finally, he pooped a bucketful and then placidly nursed like there had never been anything wrong. Since then, things have been great.....so peaceful and lovely. Zane, there are just things in life you need to learn early son, pooping skills is one of them.

PS Check out the creepy guy in the background. :o) My new brother-in-law Josh is pretty funny. Love you Josh!

Zano

Zane's cousin, McClain(3yrs) calls him "Zano". I think it sounds funny, like a magician. "Attenton everyone! The great an mighty Zano, will produce a white rabbit out of this ordinary black hat!" Anyway, little Zane, here has been a trial for his parents. Mostly for his mama who is fanatical about breastfeeding. I do not want to quit no matter what he throws my way! It's been really rough for about 3 weeks now. The first month of his life was so great. He latched on by himself, and he nursed happily. Now, everything is hard and he just screams like I'm torturing him. It's a battle that I'm getting weary of. He's on acid reflux medicine but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. My pediatrician is on vacation, so the nurses couldn't offer up any more suggestions that I hadn't already tried. I'm going to call La Leche today and see if someone there can help me. On a happy note, he is so cute! He's a cuddle-bug, has kept his blue eyes and when he's not crying he's smiling. I love the little guy so much. I just hate that he hurts.

Wyatt and Zane update

So, someone taught Wyatt to say, "Oh, sweetie, are you ok?" everytime there is any semblance of sadness, crying or booboos. Who taught him this? It wasn't me. I don't really like being called "sweetie" but when my 2 yr old does it, it's pretty sweet. He also kisses whatever hurts and says, "There, is that better?".....so cute He doesn't seem to understand what Christmas means, although he recognizes Santa and knows about baby Jesus, mama Mary and Dada Joseph. He loves to pretend it's someones birthday. He sticks things upright in his playdough, says, "Cake Mama. Hmmm, is it good?" and then sings the b-day song and blows out the pretend candles. For some reason it's always Avery's (his cousin) birthday. Anyway, I think I may stick a candle in a Christmas cookie and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus on Christmas morning....always thought that was a bit cheesy....

Zane has acid reflux. It's gotten really bad the last 2 weeks. He just screams everytime he nurses and it gets so frustrating. Sometimes I cry when he cries. I have him on medicine now but it hasn't worked yet. It takes about a week to kick in. For those of you who remember Wyatt had the same thing. Anyway, it's not pleasant and I feel sorry for the little guy. It must really hurt to be burned by acid in your throat. He also stopped nursing on the right side. I figured out that if I lay down and turn him at a funny angle, then he'll eat....but that seems to have stopped working. I'm sitting here right now and I stink. I changed Zane's clothes and my clothes but I still smell sour milk.....is it in my hair?!
I'll leave you with a quote by author Zane Grey, who Zane is named after..........I know it wasn't intended, but I think it describes exactly what it's like to go from being just yourself, to being a mother to a newborn. Dying to self...hopefully to rise a better human being.

Men may rise on stepping stones of their dead selves to higher things.- Zane Grey

This too shall pass

Wyatt's Christmas Tree

It snowed here!! Amazing......it didn't stick but it was still beautiful. Isn't Zane sweet? He really is pretty easy, other than he REALLy likes to be held all the time. He started sleeping 5 hrs straight in the night but then he stopped. 2ish and 5ish are my early morning nursing shifts as of late. Jon and I are definitely not fully functioning. This too shall pass right? :o) Wyatt and I are going to make Christmas cookies this week and walk to each of neighbor's houses and introduce ourselves. I'd really like to know my neighbors......and apologize for our ugly yard. :o)
